Children’s Ministry Purpose Statement

The mission of the Children’s Ministry at Center Fork Baptist Church is to partner with parents to lay a foundation and provide an atmosphere in which a child can make a responsible decision for Christ and grow in knowledge and understanding of the responsibility of that decision through Bible training activities and application to their lives.

Sunday School

Caring and dedicated teachers will greet your children every Sunday.  Our leaders bring out the best in children as they guide and encourage.  Their priority is to build up your kids with the love of God and lead them to a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ.

At Center Fork Baptist Church, children will find a place where they can learn about the Bible, grow in Christ, and meet good friends.

AWANA

AWANA stands for Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed.  The goal of AWANA Clubs is to reach boys and girls for Christ and train them to serve Him.  Since 1950, churches have been using AWANA to reach out to children in their communities.  The AWANA clubs are distinctively Christian and Bible-centered.  Club meetings are open to all children.  The weekly meeting helps girls and boys to grow spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally.  Clubbers learn that God is real, that He loves them, and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ.  AWANA uses the Bible to teach children to honor God and their fellow human beings.  AWANA meets every Wednesday night 6:45-8:00pm that public school is in session.

AWANA is for…

Cubbies:

Ages 3 & 4.

Sparks:

Kindergarten—2nd grade.

Truth & Training Clubs:

3rd—6th grade.

The Structure of AWANA…

Handbook Time—A 25 minute small group segment in which children are rewarded for completing sections in the AWANA Entrance Booklet and Handbook.  Kids work one-on-one with a trained leader.  AWANA emphasizes memorization and understanding of key Bible verses that show how to know God and walk with Him.

Game Time—A 25 minute segment of exciting, innovative games on the AWANA circle.

Council Time—A 25 minute large group segment that includes club announcements, award presentations, song time, testimonies, a Bible message, and a weekly invitation.

Bible Quizlympics/Champions

This program is set up for two divisions, Elementary(1st - 6th grade), and Teen(7th - 12th grade) and meets on Sunday nights from 5:00—6:00pm.  Each team consists of 2 devoted Coaches and 4 Team Members.  There are 15 weeks of studying on a particular Book or set of Books from the Bible.  Each week for 13 weeks, the Coaches distribute a Session with 25 questions for the students to answer. That's 13 Sessions x 25 questions each = 325 questions.  Also, the students can choose to enter individual competitions which are the Triathlon, which is a set of 5 questions that contain lists from the Bible; the Decathlon, the student memorizes 25 Verses from the Bible text; & the Marathon, the student is asked the questions from the Sessions and continues until he/she misses 3 or 30 minutes are up.

To make things a little more interesting the students get to play great games, such as Just the Opposite Dart Throw, Grocery Pickup, Banana Bo-Bana, and many more.  At the end of the 15 weeks of study, fellowship, and fun, several churches meet together and have competition.  All competitions are set up for the divisions to compete separately.  There are competitions for the games the students have been practicing all semester, the individual competitions for the Triathlon, Decathlon, and Marathon,  and teams that have been previously rated get to compete against one another in a Christian fashion for the GOLD!!  During this competition, two teams (at a time) answer questions back and forth for 30 minutes.  The team with the overall highest score in their division wins the GOLD!  At the end of the day, all gather together to find out who won what, but we all know that "Everyone is a winner who studies God's Word."
